~Coco Chanel~

I started working on this post at the beginning of the year  right after I did my Coach post, which I need to put back, it is with the archives. It is strickly for fun and educational purposes. Enjoy!

 Chanel- where do I start? There is something “Top Notch” about Chanel. She was Amazing! Her style was distinctly feminine, (minis the ciggy) As most know already,she was the one who pushed the envelope for ladies to wear mens pants, which generated the womens liberation. *G*

 
 
For those who don’t know-Chanel was founded in France by Gabrielle “Coco’ Chanel in 1911. She was way ahead of her time.I have read several biographies about Coco in the past and have seen all the movies. Even though there is so much I disagree with, about her nature.  In the past I have found myself drawn to who she was, sort of like Marilyn Monroe. Both ladies had that crème de la crème about them.
 
These are the ladies that some of us have  a love/hate relationship with.. Most say Coco Chanel was one of a kind. From her demure hats, to her many strands of pearls, right down to her 4″ heels…She wreaked of ladylike style!!
I have  owned 4 Chanel items in my life. I recieved my first Chanel item as a gift when I was a teen. It was her classic most desirable sought after perfume. Chanel #5. Just closing my eyes, I can still smell it. Ahhh…Magnificent!!

I then treated myself to a chanel lipstick a year later. And I would never wear red lipstick nowadays! So not me!

~Then I splurged and bought myself a pair of Chanel Sandals…and then a Chanel tee. Nowadays, I would never dream of spending 400 dollars for a pair of sandals and a top.Yikes! I guess my priorities have changed, but I do still  notice these things while out and about. :o)~

That said, I still find myself drawn to her signiture quilted leather handbags and the hot 2010 winter clogs!! Not that I need a 6″ inch heel, I am already too tall! But they sure look pretty, huh?

I come across many knock off quilted bags at thrift stores, and yard sales. They are just about everywhere, if your looking. The knockoff knee high boots are also on the rise like never before. White patent leather with the double black C’s up at the top.

 Now for the Fake/Real Facts:
 
 1. CHANEL uses high quality calfskin on their bags NOT LAMBSKIN!
2. CHANEL does not allow their bags to be selled online. They do not allow websites to offer their bags for sale, such as sacbelle.com or fetucci.com . If you buy a bag from them, it will be Fake. If you see a Chanel bag on ebay for a BUY NOW price, it will most likely be a Fake. Chanel NEVER over stocks. If you purchase one from a source that “claims” they were overstocked, their lying.
3. The most commonly used counterfeit serial numbers on CHANEL bags are :7244764, 8947749, 9316391, 9395451, 9395455, 9675223, 9777617, 9889754, 9892039, 10218184, 10380486, 10501946, 10995820, 11062948 and 10803549. Counterfeits come with a serial number card and matching # inside the bag. The card should be black and gold, not laminated in plastic. If it is laminated, it is Fake.
4. Chanel shopping bags, dust bags and boxes are black with the word C H A N E L written across the front.
 5. The inside hologram sticker will match the authenicity card, it will also come apart if you try to remove the serial # sticker. They started using this type of sticker in the later 1980′s, before that the sticker was plain and placed in the bottom of the bag.The hang tag is made of white paper with the style #, style name, bag color, bar code and the price listed on it.

6. If you find a Chanel bag that costs less than 1/4 of the retail price, it it more than likely a fake.Designer handbags will have perfect sewing/stitches and patterns, if anything is out of place or a little not centered, it’s most likely a fake.Chanel stiches are all done by hand not machine, hardware should be shiny and not brassy. CHANEL handbag has embossed serial numbers (like Coach)

7. If you didn’t buy your bag at a Chanel boutique, or at Neiman Marcus or Saks,. then there is no guarentee that it is real.

8.Chanel Cambon Black bags come in either black on black, black on white, or black on pink there is NO black bag with beige Double C’s – Chanel bags are made in ITALY not France, or the USA.

9.Check the serial number- The serial number will have seven numbers if it was made in the 80s and 8 numbers if it was made in the 90s. In older handbags and accessories there is a white sticker with gold circle CCs all over it. The black 7-digit serial number is black and is in the middle of the sticker. See photo below.

10.The hardware-chains, pulls, eyelets-will always match each other. If the chain strap is silver, so will the rest of the hardware. If it is gold, the pulls and eyelets will be gold too.

The metallic logo stamp will also match the hardware. You will find a stamp indicating where it was made on the opposite side of the bag either in block letters or in an oval.

Chanel bags cost over 2 grand each, with the most expensive one running $261.000 dollars. Yes! You read that right. What would you get for the price of a house, you may ask.

THIS is Chanels Diamond Forever bag!

Only thirteen of these pricey Chanel bags were created. The alligator-skin bags feature clasps set with 334 diamond (3.56 carats) in the shape of Chanel’s trademark double-C logo. Eighteen-karat white gold was used to fashion both the clasp and the bag’s long shoulder straps. WOW!!!

And there ya have it! Remember, this was just for fun! No Haters/judgement!
