How to peel farm fresh eggs

  • Posted on November 21, 2010 at 10:00 am

I go crazy when I boil eggs and they peel horrible for me. It never fails, and my kids are so picky that if the eggs are not peeled perfectly, they will not touch them.

Little did I know that it was not my im-perfect ways, it was actually because our eggs are only day olds, if that. We collect the eggs in the morning and sometimes they go right into the pot to boil and never end up peeling very good.

It turns out that eggs that are going to be boiled, must be at least two weeks old.

Which means, if you are using farm fresh eggs you need to plan accordingly. Collect them, place them in the fridge for at least 2 weeks, and then boil them. Farm fresh eggs naturally have a protective coating on them, so if you wash that off before placing them in the fridge, they will get older faster. If you want them to remain super fresh, be sure to NOT wash them. Unless of course they are really dirty…but hopefully you are keeping your coop extra clean! :o)

How to Boil the perfect eggs

Place eggs in pot, cover with cold water. The water and the eggs need to be the same temperature. Place on high heat until you see a rapid boil, then turn it off, cover with a tight fitting lid. DO NOT BOIL THEM! This will over cook the yokes, and turns them a funny green color.

Let them sit in the hot water for exactly 10 minutes covered. Then crack each egg gently, but do not peel them yet, drain hot water and fill pot with icy cold water which loosens  the membrane (that thin layer of skin between the shell & egg.) Let them sit in the icy water for 10 minutes, then peel to Perfection.

Grace & Love

I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than  others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” (Matthew 5:43-48)

Once upon a time, I only surrounded myself with other believers. Not just any believers, but Christians that were just like me. Who looked, dressed, and acted like me. Like minded, if you will.

Being in Utopia with like minded believers will always seem like the sparkly choice. But it is a choice that I really do not want for my life anymore, and I do not think it is biblical. Feel free to agree, to disagree.

I am not talking about being unequally yoked. I am talking about our lives, as a whole.

Do I want all my friends to be exactly like me? NO!

Do I want to live and set up house with folks just like me? NO!

Do I want to shun anyone who is not like me, believers and otherwise? NO!

(We are the church, its people, body of believers.)

A church divided is no church at all.

Isn’t this why we have so many denominations and flavors of Christianity to began with?

And gee, if you can not find a church to measure up with your beliefs, you can just go get yourself ordained and start up your own church! It really is that easy.

So where does this leave the UN-believers? Where does this leave believers?

Should we keep church hopping until we find a good fit? Maybe a fit that is 90% of what we believe? Should we just chew and spit, take the good with the bad?

Should we realize that todays churches are nothing more then corporations that need YOU to keep afloat.

You have the Joel Osteen-tickle your ears messages..

You have the Phanatics, such as Benny Hinn that would like us to believe that he is more spiritual then anyone else, and therefore the Lord gives him more super-power then the rest of us.

Then you have todays everyday preachers that will forever put the guilt trip on you to be more holy, as if this is something that we can just choose to do..when in fact that the holy spirit is in charge of that, and anything we try to do ourselves will surely fail. This, and we should not be trying to steal Gods Glory! Amen!

And yes, I am very familiar with the verse, be holy, for I am holy.  I use to quote it to folks all the time, it was my favorite in fact.*G*

~Being holy is something that we can not just choose to do, anymore then choosing to be happy, if we are unhappy, or sad. We have to go  to the father and ask for him to transform us to his image. Easy enough? In his timing, not ours…it is.

Then if your not feeling bad enough, We have churches that you enter through.. feeling totally unworthy and contemptible… just to leave, and feel even worst. These classify as the fire & brimstone type churches. Blame the devil, it is always and forever the devil….

~~But this is not another anti-church post. I have done enough of those in the past. *G* This post is about being one. One with one another…in Love, with ample Grace.

My grace is sufficient for you….2 Corinthians 12:9

Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me,that they may be one as We are….John 17:11

There is so much hatred already in the world. Why do believers top the charts?

Why belittle one another? Does it make us feel more holy and just?

Why talk negative about each other? Is it edifing?

Therefore comfort each other and edify one another…..1 Thessalonians 5:11

Most of my friends fall under fire & brimstone preaching. Most feel like Love and Grace is the wishy washy way to go..But, How are they doing? Doing inside? Do they count it all joy? Per James 1:2

Are people truly seeing Christs Light &  Everlasting Love in them?  Do people want to be around them because there is something about them, that they just can’t seem to get enough of?

The people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned. Matthew 4:16

~Hackers~Virus’s~

  • Posted on November 16, 2010 at 12:37 pm

This is not the first time my computer has been hacked, and I am sure it won’t be the last. It still runs perfect too, at least it appears to be. No blue screens, and my CD-rom is not opening by itself, and no one is telling me they are listening to my conversations and watching me type. YES! This happened to me back in 1998.  This guy had pictures of me, knew every little thing about me, what my kids names were, and if I had my speakers on, he was able to listen to all the conversations in my house, locking my keyboard on me, opening and closing my cd-rom, and emailing me 100x a day!  It was a  online stalker situation, but I will save that story for another day..

Today, I will talk about the basic PC virus. *Sigh*

A while back I clicked on a website while searching for something online,  and the little window appeared letting me know that I just got infected. I beleive it was through a Trojan horse. As I am too smart to fall for the email attachment virus’.  :o)~

Of course some newer virus’s still attach themselves to your PC, even without you double clicking or extracting the file.

You generally pick up Trojan horses when you click on websites that claim to be something else. This happens to me more times then I care to admit in fact…Worms are different, they are a  small piece of software that uses computer networks and security holes to replicate itself. Real Sneaky!

Most of the time you will have no clue that you have a virus. I use to have a firewall, but it does not allow you to do much..and it got annoying, so off it came. *G*

That said,

Yesterday while on my email account, which has the yahoo chat. I kept getting booted off. Today the same thing happened, but this time a small window came up telling me that someone else just logged into my online chat! Not cool!

So…I am in the mist of making it safer, safe as I can anyways. It really stinks that this happens. But at least it is trivel compared to what I have been through in the past, regarding virus’s/hackers/and online stalkers. Most people would have banned themself from ever going online again, or so I’ve been told..But Nah, I’m a gluten for punishmnet I guess.:o)~

Cool Stuff! ~Reviews~

  • Posted on November 15, 2010 at 12:14 pm

It’s been a while since I did a beauty post.  I haven’t been trying all that many new things, but wanted to share what I have sampled in the past couple months.

First up is something that has been around for as long as I can remember. My grandmother use to use it in fact, which is why I bought it in the first place..it smells so good!It cost $3.99 for a 1.5 ounce tube. It is a unisex product, which makes your hair look thicker and shiny looking, and is great for dry hair.  A little goes a very long way, trust me on that one.  I put it on my dry hair when I want it too look shiny, but it says you can place it on wet hair too. It is Mineral oil  based which I know can clog the hair folical if you get too crazy with it.

Other then hair, it is also a non-toxic product, and great to rub on your pets paws before they go out in the cold winter weather. It is also good to place on their fur to prevent hair balls. I grew up breeding Persians, and boy this would have come in handy back then. You simply do not know what you are missing if you have never woke up mornings, jumping out of bed because you were running late for school once mor and were going to miss the bus, but low and behold, would repeatedly slip and fall on kitty hair balls mixed with wet cat food. YUCK!  It is just something that you never forget. Of course missing the bus time and time again, then having to walk way to far to school… is pretty memorable too. *G*

That said, It also gets glue, and residue off glass-ware…. Prevents nuts and bolts from rusting together by lubricating them, much like WD-40, which is toxic by the way..

It cleans and shines plant leaves. Love this one!

Make zippers glide easily, and even softens your cuticles.

So all in all, it is a keeper.

Next product that I have been loving is Africans Best Organics Hair Mayonnaise. It comes in a 15oz plastic container, and runs for $4.99 It is maketed for African American Hair, but it works so good and smells so heavenly. This is something that you slather on before you get into the shower. Also, it works like a hair mask and is very rich, so you only need to use it once a week. It is loaded with protein, and has the texture of Mayonnaise, hence the name.

Lastly is something I was skeptical about. Mostly due to the price, and online reviews. Garnier Fructis puffy-eye roller. They run for $11.99 each, but I got  buy one get one free sale and had a coupon and ended up getting two for $8.00  It is infused with Caffeine, which I thought was pretty neat. I have read great reviews from both men and women who love it, and  I have used Hard-Candy caffeinated lipstick before with great results, so decided to try something simular..

The package says to roll it around your eye for 1 full minute. This does not seem like much time to stand in front of the mirror, but it really is. Then you are suppose to rub all the product all over your face, and believe me, after a full minute, you will have plenty of product to rub in. I did this for a few days, but do not anymore and still feel I get a light pick-me up on those mornings that I stayed up way too late..

I also want to throw a food item in here because it is just to cute to not mention…

Bunny Pasta!

I think it is seasonal, and it is way over priced. I got a 16ox bag for $4.89 (Health Store). No food coloring, and super healthy! In fact the kids are all eating their bunnies as we speak.:o)

So that is the mini reviews for today..Enjoy!

The Tree is up!

  • Posted on November 15, 2010 at 12:01 am

Well, the kids pressured me to put the tree up early again this year. I suppose it wasn’t too much pressure as I never saw the point to wait till December 1rst to put it up, or worst, Christmas Eve like some folks do. If I was able to leave it up till January, then maybe…BUT, like the many other things that affect my OCD, Holiday decorations is pretty up there…I am the type that takes all the Christmas stuff down the day after Christmas. Drives everyone batty! lol

So the House is done in a Fall/Christmas theme right now. I did make progress this year though regarding the tree. I allowed the kids to decorate it any way they saw fit. I put away my two tone matching bows, ribbons and bulbs and just closed my eyes and hoped for the best! :o)~ I got to lift my little girl up and place the angel on top too, which was the highlight of it all.

I will have to snap and upload a picture of it to add later…

And on that note..I am totally into this Christmas tree light up game even though I can not seem to finish it. I think my eyes need to stay off the timer, maybe that would reduce the stress of the game for me…Ugh!
